The Phantom Menace

After 16 years without a new Star Wars installment, the world had gone mental. Well, it hadn't, it had actually gotten saner but I very much doubt that Star Wars had anything to do with that!

On 16th July 1999, the first in a new wave of Star Wars movies was released. Entitled The Phantom Menace and with the Star Wars generation now older, this film was not aimed at them. It was aimed at the new generation of children - except that it wasn't - it was very politcal. All in all, It disappointed but of course it still did exceedingly well at the box office.

Kieren's View

This was released the year that I started high school, that summer was amazing. I liked this film when i saw it in the cinema but as I have grown older, more mature, lots of little things (and one big thing) have started to nag away at me about this film.

The big thing i speak of is of course the computer animated thing that isn't quite there and speaks in teletubby language - Jar Jar.

Minor gripes include:
I understand the need for the political backdrop but I do not believe it should have been the whole plot of the film, it's a wee bit confusing for the "target" audience.
